CLUB RULES1. The name of the Club shall be the
Hawridge & Cholesbury Cricket Club.
2. The Objects of the club shall be to:
a) To encourage the playing of cricket by amateurs and also to encourage
and assist young people to continue playing cricket after leaving
school.
b) To Provide a pavilion for the use of members for their refreshment
and the playing of indoor sports.
3. The colours of the Club shall be light blue and the emblem displayed on
Club apparel shall be the Cholesbury Windmill.
4. The Club and its affairs shall be managed by the General Management
Committee (hereinafter referred to as “the committee”) which shall
consist of the Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Cricket Manager, Pavilion
Manager, Ground Manager, Youth Development Officer, Social Organiser /
Fund Raiser, and shall be elected annually at the Annual General
Meeting, (AGM). At Committee meetings the quorum shall be five of which the
Chairman of the meeting shall have a second and casting vote in the
event of a draw vote. The Committee shall have the power to elect
members to fill casual vacancies and to co-opt up to three additional
members. the Committee shall appoint a Chairman in the absence of both
the elected Chairman and Vice Chairman. A Committee member may
hold more than one position on the Committee but is entitled to only one
vote.
5. The Committee shall be empowered to delegate such of its powers as it
shall decide to a sub-Committee appointed by the main Committee and
chaired by a member of the main Committee, which sub-Committee’s
decisions shall be binding as though they had been made by the
Committee.
6. Annual Subscriptions and Match Fees
The amount of the annual subscription for each category of member and
the amount of match fees shall be decided at the Annual General Meeting.
Annual subscriptions are due from the 1st January in each year to the
commencement of the season. Should the playing member’s subscription be
unpaid prior to the commencement of the club’s league season the member
shall be ineligible for selection to play for the club until such time
as their subscription is fully paid.
7. A candidate for membership of the Club shall apply to the Secretary
who will immediately inform the Committee. Upon the agreement of the
Secretary and at least two other Committee members the applicant may be
admitted to Club Membership subject to a probationary period of 1 month.
The name and address of the person proposed for membership shall be
prominently displayed, for not less than two days before the election,
in the club premises.
8. A Member may at any time resign from the Club by giving notice to the
Membership Secretary.
9. The Committee shall have power to terminate the membership of any
member whose conduct shall in its opinion render him unfit for
membership.
10. The Club shall have power at its AGM to elect as Honorary Life
Members those who in its considered opinion have given particular
service to the game of cricket in general and/or to the Club in
particular. Vice Presidents shall be elected at AGM’s each year.
11. All fully paid up and Honorary Life Members except as hereinafter
provided shall be entitled to all the benefits and privileges of
membership including the right to use the Club premises and shall be
entitled to attend and vote at General Meetings of the Club. Members
under the age of 16 years shall be excluded from voting at General
Meeting. A Fully paid up member is defined as someone who has paid
by 31 October prior to the Annual general meeting the previous year’s
cricket playing or social membership fee.
12. The annual General Meeting at the club shall be held once a year
between each playing season and not more than 15 months after the
previous meeting for the following purposes:
a) To receive reports from Officers of the Club and a financial
statement duly signed by the Chairman and one other member of the
committee who shall not be the Treasurer.
b) election of Club President.
c) To elect the Officer of the Club, the Committee and the Reporting
Accountant, and
d) Appointment of Honorary Life Members.
e) Appointment of Trustees as necessary.
f) To transact ordinary business of the Club.
13. The Committee shall at any time call an Emergency General Meeting
and forthwith do so upon the written requisition of five committee
members or alternatively one-third of the total paid membership entitled
to attend and vote at a General Meeting, indicating the purposes for
which the meeting is
required.
14. At least fourteen days’ notice of General meetings, specifying the
objects, shall be sent to every member. A quorum at such meetings shall
be one quarter of the total membership entitled to attend and vote at a
General Meeting.
15. The Club shall be open on such days and during such hours as the
Committee shall determine.
16. The permitted hours for supplying alcoholic liqueur shall be:
11.00am -11.00pm Monday - Saturday
12.30pm - 10.30pm Sunday
Provided always that the Committee shall have the power to restrict the
above hours at any time at their discretion.
17. No intoxicating liquor shall be supplied otherwise than to:
a) A Member of the said Club who has been a Member for at least two days
or whose nomination or application for membership was at least two days
before his admission.
b) A Guest of such a Member.
c) A person to whom a sale of intoxicating liquor is permitted under
sub-section 4 of Section 49 of the Licensing Act 1964, and persons
visiting the Club for the fulfilment of a sporting fixtures.
d) Intoxicating liquor may be sold to persons attending the Club
premises for social or other function organised or authorised by the
Club provided always that the number of such functions shall not exceed
twelve in any one year, but no function shall be permitted to which
admission may be obtained by payment of money at the door whether for a
ticket or otherwise.
e) Persons within the aforementioned provisions who have attained the
age of 18 years.
f) No intoxicating liquor shall be supplied for consumption off the
premises except to a member in person.
18 All the property of the Club shall be vested in three Trustees
representing and acting for the whole of the member ship of the Club. No
personal liability shall attach to any Trustee, except to the extent of
such funds of the Club as may be actually received by a Trustee.
The trustees shall be appointed only at an annual General meeting by a
resolution of a majority of the Members present and entitled to vote
there at, and shall remain in office at the pleasure of the Club or for
five ears, whichever shall be the shorter.
19 A Disciplinary sub Committee shall be appointed by the Committee to
consider any written complaints against a Member of the Club and shall
report to the Committee with its recommendations.
20 No alteration or addition to these rules shall be made, except by a
resolution carried by a majority of at least two-thirds of the Members
present at a General meeting, notice of which shall contain particulars
of the proposed alteration or addition.
